10 individuals and institutions rewarded at Sukuma 2022

Ten individuals and institutions were honored at the Bissa Sukuma 2022 festival on Sunday, receiving recognition for their contributions towards the progress of the Bissa course.

The maiden Sukuma event held in the Ashanti Regional Capital was packed with pomp and splendor, while some names were eulogized for their efforts in building a stronger fraternity.

The Bissa Development Association, the Obuase Dancing Troupe, and Bissanewsonline each took home a citation, becoming the first three institutions to receive such huge recognition on such a big stage.

Six honorary awards and a posthumous award went to some seven individuals who have made some indelible contributions to the Zekula agenda.

Among them were three outstanding women whose contributions over the years have brought honor, development, and joy to the Bissa Fraternity.

Ashanti Regional Bissa Chief, Kir Tanko Yemboni, First BDA Secretary, Mr. Sumani Yemboni, and former MP Dr. Mustapha Ahmed were among some senior kinsmen who were rewarded for steering the wheel all these years, while the late Alhaji Issaka Nombre (Alhaji Weapon) received the posthumous award.

Ayisha Bawa Zampaligiri was awarded for winning the 2021 Best Nurse in the whole country to push Bissa to higher heights, while Rabiatu Umar Norguni was recognized for her active role in reviving the BDA in the region.

The Bissa Development Association (BDA) was rewarded for playing a motherly role in ensuring unity and development among Bissas, while Bissanewsonline.com was rewarded for promoting the Bissa brand as the first ever fully-owned Bissa media portal.

The Obuasi Dancing Troupe and songstress Zulaiha Bansi, known showbiz life as Star Gyal, were both rewarded for their performances on the day.

In their absence, Mr. Sumani Musah Yemboni, Dr. Mustapha Ahmed, and the late Alhaji Weapon had their citations picked on their behalf by representatives.
